Scholars' Partnerships

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” – Henry Ford

Lisena Landscaping is very supportive of our sustainability program. The owner, Freddy, is really helpful and his daughter went to Scholars'! Their point person, Fernando, could not be more helpful. Lisena takes all our orders, gives sound advice and even makes donations to our program.

Sprout by Design uses universal design principles to build experiences that are colorful, interactive, entertaining, therapeutic, safe, and informative for people of all abilities. Above we can see Sprout by Design partnering with Scholars' Academy students in an interactive sustainability workshop.

We have built a strong partnership with The Waterside Children's School. Their principal, Ms. Gerendasi is fully committed to sustainability. Our first project together is developing our compost systems and learning together as a team. Also, many of the Waterside students attend Scholars' when they leave Waterside. Their school is so close to our school, which makes everything very easy. We also share the same head custodian.

The Office of Sustainability guide us and support us in all our efforts. We follow their suggestions and participate in their programs. They helped us form our Green Team, have awarded us two grants (to date), provided us with mentors, and many other things. Without this partnership we would not be able to do what we do.

Queens Botanical Gardens is a great resource for all school gardens. Their staff are experts and they want to help. Councilman Ulrich gave us a grant in 2019 to spend in partnership with QBG. This grant really helped our garden get established and the staff from the gardens taught us so much. We will forever be grateful to Mr. Ulrich and the staff of QBG's.
